About this activity
Begin your adventure in the picturesque village of Kinidaros, renowned for its vibrant musical heritage and surrounded by majestic marble quarries. As you set out on the dirt path, take in the breathtaking views of the quarries and the distant mountains blending into the Aegean Sea. The path soon transforms into a cobblestoned trail, guiding you into a lush ravine. Descending to the riverbanks, you’ll encounter the 18th-century Mill of Hadji, a stone bridge that stands sentinel over the serene landscape. The cooler air and abundant vegetation create a tranquil atmosphere as you continue past lagoons, small waterfalls, and remnants of old watermills. Keep an eye out for native wildlife such as crabs and water turtles playing by the water’s edge. Your journey continues through the fertile Lagada area, highlighted by the quaint country church of Aghios Georgios and the impressive four-arch water mill. Enter the traditional farm settlement of Mesa Geitonia, where time seems to stand still, before making your final approach to Eggares. Here, you’ll visit one of Naxos’s oldest olive mills, now a museum showcasing centuries-old oil pressing techniques. The tour culminates with a delightful traditional meal at a taverna in Eggares, where you can savor local culinary delights. Afterwards, transportation will be arranged to take you back to your accommodations, rounding off a day rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage.
