Samaria Gorge Full-Day Trek from Chania

Your day begins early with a bus ride from Chania to Omalos, a picturesque village located in the White Mountains. Here, you can enjoy breakfast while taking in panoramic mountain views. Once energized, the hike commences from the plateau, offering a breathtaking descent into Samaria Gorge, one of Europe’s longest and most renowned natural wonders. The trek, spanning approximately 10 miles, leads you through a diverse landscape of towering walls, ancient pine and cypress forests, and along the water springs that provide refreshing stops along the way. The gorge is also home to a range of flora and fauna, including the protected Cretan wild goat, Kri-Kri. Midway through the hike, you’ll come across awe-inspiring rock formations and narrow passages that make this journey truly memorable. Passing through the abandoned village of Samaria adds a historical touch to the expedition, providing insight into the area’s past. Upon reaching the end of the gorge, the charming coastal village of Agia Roumeli awaits.
